Public bug reported:
Binary package hint: mozilla-thunderbird
I have Ubuntu 9.04 Jaunty 64bit loaded and working flawlessly. However If I install Thunderbird through the Synaptics it installs properly but when I launch it my display shows patches of the application then the entire system hangs. If I have press and hold power button on my laptop to power off. Upon restart the OS loads and runs flawlessly again (sometimes it initiates a disk check on boot with no errors found every time) . Try to load the program again and the system hangs again.
Not sure this matters, but the same happens when trying to load Azerus (now called Vuze as an alternative torrent client).
I know that Vuze uses Java to run didn't think that Thunderbird did, but both applications have same effect on my system.
Funny enough Jaunty does not recognize either event as app crash so it
doesn't prompt to submit a report, not even sure it creates one.
It seems to be drawing error but why it hangs the system, I don't know.
And why no other application has this problem also beyond me
** Affects: mozilla-thunderbird (Ubuntu)
Importance: Undecided
Status: New
