[Bug 315883] [NEW] graphics rendering in browsers broken (firefox and epiphany)

Graphics rendering in these browsers is severely broken.

It seems to be for both GIF and PNG images, but not all images. Maybe
something to do with transparency.

I'll add useful examples as I find them.
