A related problem is that the padsp command does not work.

If you run 'padsp firefox-3.5' firefox never starts (the command hangs).

But this is a generic bug with padsp - it hangs no matter what program
is run. I guess that if padsp would work, firefox start-up script could
easily be changed to use padsp.
