This is still a problem with the firefox package version 3.0.8
+nobinonly-0ubuntu0.8.04.2

The instructions for reproducing the bug are identical.

What I expect to happen is that if I drag an image displayed in firefox
to my desktop, then it is always saved to my desktop. This does not
happen if firefox can only access the image through a proxy server.
