[Bug 438738] [NEW] java is not working properly, or is not correctly installed

Public bug reported:

trying to install java for my class assignment, i don't understand
applets and plugins .i received this error message: install missing
plugins. when i clicked install, i receive this message: already
installed 'gcjwebplugin.
