[Bug 576639] [NEW] Thunderbird 3.04 crashing with Ubuntu 10.04

I installed Thunderbird 3.04 from the Ubuntu 10.04 Software Center. It worked but looked strange (some items not displaying).
I uninstalled and reinstalled with Synaptic. When I launch the program I get
"Thunderbird is already running, but is not responding. To open a new window, you must first close the existing Thunderbird process, or restart your system."
I completely removed the program with Synpatic and manually installed the tar.gz2 application from the Thunderbird homepage. Same problem.
