Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: thunderbird

As I see the /usr/bin/thunderbird startup script does nut run the scripts in ~/.thunderbird/init.d/S* like the previous versions did.
In ubuntu 9.04, 9.10 there was a function in the /usr/bin/thunderbird script named moz_pis_startstop_scripts() for thunderbird 2.
As I see this is missing in 10.04 for thunderbird 3.
So the method for setting the date display format mentioned here is not working any more: http://kb.mozillazine.org/Date_display_format

I expect that the scripts in ~/.thunderbird/init.d/ are working again.
