As I compose this reply as usual I am listening to BBC Radio 4 and today
everything worked perfectly by clicking on the link on the BBC Home
page. http://www.bbc.co.uk/iplayer/console/bbc_radio_four is working as
expected. Your suggestion of pre-checking the URL is not available to
me. When I use the BBC Home page (bbc.co.uk) I have to click on the
listen live radio connection before the URL displays. It then either
works or displays the error.
I do not know enough about FF but on the basis that I can access all the
other programme links via the BBC Home page 100% of the time the problem
is with the browser. As I have stated before I can immediately open
Opera and listen to Radio 4 perfectly.
The fact that the FF response shows that the programme is not available
while Opera is delivering the content using exactly the same method I
feel points to FF. Again the intermittent access in FF leads me to
consider that there is something amiss with the browser.
I will rattle the BBC cage to see what reaction I get from there but
would not be surprised if they blame FF.
Again thanks for your kind assistance
Ian
