Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: firefox

I open a web site with sound samples, e.g. http://www.m-w.com . I type
a word into the dictionary field and search for its explanation. Then I
want also to hear its pronunciation so I click on the small amplifier
picture. I does not produce any sound but at least offers me an option
to hear it with my default audio player. I choose this alternative
option and click on the play button. However there is still no sound
produced. The reason is that the player starts with zero volume level
(essentially mute).

Of course I can set the volume to a higher level and finally can hear
the sound. However if I type another word into the dictionary and want
hear also this other one, the player again resets its volume level to
zero. It is thus very annoying every time to set the volume level to a
non-zero value.

My system is a 32-bit notebook with:

Description:	Ubuntu 10.04 LTS
Release:	10.04

Previously I was using Interim Ibex on the same machine and there was no
such a problem.
