I can confirm the "fix" presented by Joel. Pressing F8 (toggle preview
screen) also toggles the "Attachments" menu item, appearing between the
"Open Saved Messages" and "Closed" line items in the File drop down
menu. I have a WIN XP PRO, sesrvice pack 3.

Any body have any suggestions what is the cause?  We have some computers
that show this problem and some that do not; but are supposed to be
configured the same.

Ok, I noticed that I normally have the preview pane off for better 
compatibility with the screen readers, but when I press F8 to turn on 
the preview pane, the menu shows up. That at least gets me around the 
problem, hopefully someone can fix this properly though.

Hi there, and thank You all in advance for Your help.

Some now and then (almost once per day) the "file ->attachment" menu
item vanishes from my Mozilla Thunderbird. Please, see the attached PNG
screen shot. You see here that Thunderbird is showing a message text,
and in the bottom line You see that the message has 2 PDF file attached.
If I right-click onto the attachment icons I can access them, save,
detach, or delete. But if I select the main "file" menu (see PNG image)
I have no attachment interface.

As long as I use keyboard often then mouse, I have no access to the
attachment management.

Please, could You help me? I think this is a bug, because the
"attachment" menu item vanishes only a few times per day.
