[Bug 992326] [NEW] Thunderbird polls continuously, using an entire core

Public bug reported:

This behavior began with upgrade to 12.04, no problems in 11.10.

strace reveals that the cpu is consumed by continuous polling.

Putting thunderbird "offline" stops the polling.
