Erik, could setup a test account that shows the issues that you are
having (including having sample problematic emails in the folders), and
then tell me what configuration I need to use to connect Thunderbird so
that I can duplicate this?

I would also appreciate either a detailed summary STR post, or reference
specific comments that you think do that already.
