Thanks for pointing me to bug #1999308, which does indeed seem to be the
same problem. Unfortunaately I haven't had the time to apply the
suggested workarounds yet.


Yes, unattended upgrades seems to be enabled. Here's the log from the last time Thunderbird was replaced.
