i need to migrate mailboxes from vpopmail maildir folder to a postfix
maildir. The user settings (username, password etc.) is in a database
vpopmail but i'm not very good at tinkering with databases so i'll just do
the easily understandable thing (for me with my puny brain).

my idea is this (haven't done yet, maybe another hour or two)

mailboxes scattered in folder /home/vpopmail/domains/mydomain.my/0to
/home/vpopmail/domains/
mydomain.my/9, /home/vpopmail/domains/mydomain.my/Ato /home/vpopmail/domains/
mydomain.my/V

so i'll just tar those folders
scp it to the postfix server
extract in /home
create users according to folders in /home
change ownership of each user to their own

so, how do i do this? just share your thought, no need to code for me. Is
this method the best or there are other?
