Question #10271 on Mythbuntu changed:
https://answers.launchpad.net/mythbuntu/+question/10271

    Status: Needs information => Open

Derek Christensen gave more information on the question:
Oops, I didn't see that kernel when I was looking earlier. I guess I
shouldn't do this stuff at 2AM...

I've upgraded to the 2.6.22-8-generic kernel.

However lirc was still not cooperating. It would start, but couldn't find the device. Here is what I was getting in my syslog:
Jul 27 09:52:08 mythtv lircd-0.8.2[6536]: lircd(userspace) ready
Jul 27 09:52:08 mythtv lircd-0.8.2[6536]: accepted new client on /dev/lircd
Jul 27 09:52:08 mythtv lircd-0.8.2[6536]: could not get file information for /dev/lirc
Jul 27 09:52:08 mythtv lircd-0.8.2[6536]: default_init(): No such file or directory
Jul 27 09:52:08 mythtv lircd-0.8.2[6536]: caught signal

I've confirmed that /dev/lirc doesn't exist, neither does /dev/lirc0. In fact ls -l /dev/|grep lirc yields only this:
srw-rw-rw- 1 root root 0 2007-07-27 09:52 lircd
prw-r--r-- 1 root root 0 2007-07-26 21:36 lircm

So I've symlinked lircd to lirc (probably could set this in
hardware.conf also). It now starts without errors (and I can open a
connection with irw, which I couldn't do before), but I'm not at home,
so I can't fully test it. I will test tonight and reply back.

Thanks,
Derek
