I'm in the US, have Verizon FIOS service for cable and internet.
I use an HD Homerun Prime tuner on my network, with cablecard.
If I were to switch to antenna, I'd get an HDHomerun Plus tuner.
Both are units that go onto my LAN here and MythTV controls those tuners
and records from them.
My drives are currently scattered on various NFS mounts, I'll be further
consolidating them as funding permits onto a solid RAID unit. My primary
BE is on an old Dell Poweredge 2850. Frontends are varied units,
typically older computers and even one Acer Aspire One netbook.

What are the sort of issues that you are experiencing?

----

I want to get HD, or at least digital regular channels on my PVR-150s.

As I understand, the only way in Canada to get HD is to:

1. Get the firewire interface working (best I ever got was a change
channel then insta-death)
2. Hook up a PVR-150 with the ir-blaster, and get it to change the
channel on the digital box, but this takes over the cable box (so I
gather I need n cable boxes to record n channels. I have done this with
my friend's dad, and it is 90% ok, but fails sometimes.

Has no one figured out a good way to do this? In Canada we can't get
unscrambled QAM which would be awesome, because then I could just hook
up an HVR-1600 and boom - HD. THis works with an external antenna
perfectly, so as long as I can get unscambled I am golden. Unfortunately
the oligopolies don't allow us peons to have that.

Surely this problem is solved, given the plethora of HD recordings of
sports events, etc available via bittorrent.
