### Ubuntu Summit 2023 Reflections ###
Mauro Gaspari in writing after returning from Riga and the Ubuntu Summit
2023 - still "buzzing" with energy - gives us some reflections. We're given
some thoughts on the preparations for the event, the targets of the Ubuntu
Summit, and resounding results in relation to these. Thanks is given to Leo
Trukšāns, Pēteris Jurčenko, and Jānis Ķengurs who coordinated the Latvian,
Linux & Open Source communities. Mauro gives some brief coverage of the 3
day's events, the Hallway Track, and the CLOSING PARTY!, including numerous
photographs. As well, a link to the Youtube Playlist is given, with thanks
to Kaspars Dobrovolskis and Janis Konons on the Camera Crew, and Kristaps
Purmalis for editing. He closes with the sincere hope we're able to make it
next year, and to get in touch for all things Ubuntu.

### CFP for the FOSDEM 2024 Distros Devroom (closes December 5th) ###
Philipp Kewisch reminds us that FOSDEM is 3-4 February 2024, in Brussels
Belgium. We're told there won't be a Ubuntu stand (no room) but Ubuntu is
"co-organizing the Distros Dev Room". We're told: what the Developers Room
is, that the Call for Proposals can be made until 5 December 2023, of other
dates and details on how to attend.

### Mir Release 2.16.0 ###
Alan Griffiths is pleased to report the release of Mir 2.16.0 which will
make Miriway "much more usable" for a graphical shell on his own laptop. In
the given details of this release Alan provides: links for more details,
the contributions by Harlen Batagelo and Mauritius Clemens, an ABI summary,
and a list of enhancements and bugs fixed.

### Call for testing Ubuntu Frame, Mir Kiosk ###
Alan Griffiths tells us that due to Mir 2.16 and 2.13.1 release, Ubuntu
Frame and Mir Kiosk have also been updated. Alan gives the channel &
version details. We're told the "22 track" is the focus going forward, with
its altered graphics support, which will get an extended (two week) testing
period. We're invited to help test these Ubuntu Frame and Mir Kiosk
versions, with the related details provided (including list of bugs fixed
from prior Mir 2.13).

### Intel® TDX 1.0 technology preview available on Ubuntu 23.10 ###
Ijlal Loutfi writes that "Securing data at run-time" has been a
"challenge", and that Intel's Trust Domain Extensions (Intel TDX) can
achieve some of this. Ubuntu has "partnered with Intel", with support
available in a Ubuntu 23.10 build. This post gives us some details on why
this may benefit us, and how it works. We're also invited to give feedback.

### Miriway - bringing Wayland to your desktop ###
Alan Griffiths writes about a "side project" of his, which continues on
from a talk given at the recent Ubuntu Summit 2023. Alan walks us through
his project, giving numerous screenshots and details on how it was done,
and how to build a Wayland desktop environment based on Mir. Alan provides
scripts to enable Miriway for various DEs. This is a rather extensive

### KDE's 6th Megarelease - Beta 1 ###
This post reminds readers that every few years a move is made to a new
version of Qt, which is used to clean up the code base. This has now
happened, with a Beta version of KDE Plasma 6, KDE Frameworks 6 & KDE Gear
24.02 now available for test. Details of this new 'beta' release is
provided, along with a few screenshots, details on contributing, and
warning about using pre-release software. Please report all found bugs, so
they can be corrected prior to official release scheduled for end February
2024.
