installing vmware player

I followed the instructions from the ubuntu wiki and was stopped by:
"Setup is unable to find the "make" program on your machine. (Ubuntu Dapper
Drake).
Please make sure it is installed
Do you want to specify the location of this programby hand? yes

Yes prompt for a location of the bin file
No stops the installation

What am I supposed to do?
