Die "driver" op windows was wel iets typisch van HP, mischien, maar ik 
zie hier iets algemeens:

Disabling Touchpad while Typing

     Go to System > Preferences > Mouse > Touchpad and uncheck 'Disable 
touchpad while typing' and 'Enable mouse clicks with touchpad'

Ik hoop dat het onder (x)ubuntu een beetje dezelfde menu's zijn als hier
