Hi Ealden,

Congrats to the Ubuntu Team for the job well done. Another reason to
rejoice is that Jerome Gotangco was elected to the PLUG Board.

I share with the ideas presented. My only comment is on the first
Goal: Spread Ubuntu in the Philippnes.

I suggest that we must be very extra careful in our evangelism. I am a
fan of Ubuntu myself and my organization has adopted it as the
official distribution. But I am extra careful in my advocacy. What I
recommend to my friends is not Ubuntu but GNU/Linux, or Linux for
short (Is RMS looking? :-) ). When they see my laptop and get
impressed, I don't tell them at first that that is Ubuntu. I tell them
it's Linux. If discussions go further, that's the time I reveal the
secret to them: Linux, powered by Ubuntu. I also inform them that
there are many distributions powering Linux.

My point is that the Ubuntu community must not be taken as such that
dominates other communities like Fedora, Mandriva, and OpenSuse. Oh, I
forgot to mention the Debian community.

I suggest that our first Goal must be: Spread GNU/Linux in the
Philippines and in the process emphasize the distinct features of
Ubuntu.

I know you know what I mean. I only want to emphasize what I think is
just right.

As to local case studies, I'm willing to document my own experiences
as well as other experiences.

More power to Ubuntu Team.

Dong
