I believe iptables is installed by default.  You can check by using
Synaptic[1] (and then searching for 'package iptables') or other
command-line tools.  You can also use the said tools to install iptables
if it isn't installed in your system.

Of course, the recommended way of install apps is through
gnome-app-install[2].  iptables doesn't show up in g-a-i though, but I
suppose that's because the installer should handle that anyway.
