/Some anthropologists argue that the idea of God first arose in larger
societies, for the purpose of curbing selfishness and promoting
cooperation./
There are some religions that does not adhere to "love your neighbor as
yourself" theology and are destructive/dangerous religions. Unless
these anthropologists were talking to atheists(obviously, and it must
be), the idea they presented makes no sense. There are people who claim
"And man created God in his own image" instead of the reverse. Is this
about the philosophy of religion? If so, may I refer the works of this

/PS.There are so many great Christian thinkers who have written books to
defend Christianity, and I would recommend anyone to read them if you
doubt the Christian faith before stumbling into the new world of
secularism and atheism../
