[Ubuntu-PH] Help on getting connected to the internet

I've been using the ubuntu live cd. Pls. can anyone tell me what is
the procedure on how to
connect to the internet. Unlike Windows you just go to the control
panel and just click the network and internet connections then setup.
I'm really clueless when it comes to Ubuntu. I really want to surf the
web using this linux software.
