Hi!

I really like the idea of the Ubuntu Power User Community, and I would be
happy to contribute to the project. First let me introduce myself: My name
is László Torma. I am the LoCo contact of Hungarian Ubuntu LoCo. I work on
many areas in our LoCo: I post news on our loco site (ubuntu.hu), I create
documentation and education material, I give presentations at conferences.
An important part of my job is coordination: I answer people who contact the
loco, I help in resolving conflicts on our forums, I lead our monthly IRC
meetings. I also have a blog aimed at the Hungarian Power Users: the main
topics of the blog are development releases, new features and new ideas in
Ubuntu.

I think the Ubuntu Power User Community could focus on 3 main areas:

1) Creating resources (Documentation, HOWTOs, etc.) and giving support
(forums, irc) for like-minded users.

2) Giving feedback for Unity developers (like, “Power Users would love to
have an option for that! You can hide it somewhere in dconf, we will find
it! ;)”)

3) Helping 3rd party developers (who create configuration tools, indicators,
lenses, etc.): offering them testing, creating documentation, helping in
localization, spreading the word about their efforts.

Basically, the Ubuntu Power User Community could connect the Unity project,
small 3rd party projects and the advanced users.

I think we could start our work with creating a wiki page for the project
and collecting the already existing 3rd party apps (Gunity, Indicators and
Unity Lenses). This can be done today.

Unity has a great potential, and we just started to explore the
possibilities. I think the Ubuntu Power User Community could provide a
substantial help in making Unity more attractive to the advanced users.

Best,
László Torma (toros)
Ubuntu member
