grub proplems

i a dual boot system on my computer. after installing ubuntu 8.10 beta,
grub wiped out the wiindows entry.

my ard drive is setup as follows;
hda1 -windows partition
hda2 ubuntu

after the install grub changed the windows entry to that of an
additional ubuntu entry.

i have since re-installed ubuntu 8.04

also, are you changing the default sound to the one fedora uses?
also, i find the nag about being installed to a wired network annoying,
can this be turned off?
