I would install the *latest 64-bit* release, except if you find later
that this one is not stable enough for the kind of work you develop. If
this were the case I will try the *latest LTS*, which is more flaw
resistant but has worse functionalities.
It is also true that the *first weeks* after a new release has been
launched it has much more errors than later on. We expect this to
*change* in the near future, since Canonical is automating error testing
and the Ubuntu community is working in a project

that will make bugs much easier to fix.
