Andrea, seems your welcome email feel into the cracks of my client at
least and no one gave you a proper welcome! So indeed, let me welcome
you. I'm glad to see your enthusiasm for contributing. Testing is a
great way to learn more about ubuntu and give back.
I would encourage you to take a couple first steps to ease you into
helping out. As a tester you will need an install of the development
version of ubuntu, which is currently utopic. As a tester a real system
is preferred and you are encouraged to run it as your day to day system!
To do that, you can start by doing your very first testcase. (Note,
getting your test machine setup is covered here as well:
https://wiki.ubuntu.com/QATeam/DevelopmentInstall)
Head over to the iso tracker (iso.qa.ubuntu.com)
Grab the daily iso image and install it on your machine (virtual or
real, but real is preferred of course!)
Pick an installer test and install ubuntu
Once installed, report results to the tracker
After you've done this you'll have a working development setup you can
then use to test other applications
(https://wiki.ubuntu.com/QATeam/Roles/Tester#Application_Testing,
checkout the package tracker packages.qa.ubuntu.com for testcases), or
do exploratory testing
(https://wiki.ubuntu.com/QATeam/Roles/Tester#Exploratory_Testing).
Again welcome aboard, and don't be a stranger on IRC either!
