Thanks for looking at this problem. Actually, the location of lxterminal.png move to a more standard location : /usr/share/icons/hicolor/128x128/apps/lxterminal.png

Could you test with this location to see if it's working, and update your branch ?

You may also update debian/changelog with your modification.
