Yeah - slash and burn! Less code is good :-)

Just a few comments (extra code to zap :)...

- As the in-place upgrade code has now gone, you can also zap:
  - reboot_reason
  - reboot_reasons
  - --check-reboot
  - --no-reboot
  - --reboot-delay

- the man page (man/ubuntu-core-upgrade.1) needs an update to reflect the reduced set of command-line options.
