With due respect to the Ubuntu team, and admirer for your work!
This said, I gradully switched over since Ubuntu 8.04 and today am
frightened as I haven't come to the end of a persistent problem, which
might be related to my Dell laptop Studio xps dual core machine.
Today I received an Ubuntu security update(?) or upgrade. and boom,
there goes me work once again, with a freezing up of my keepboard.
such crashes have bugged me through time, tinking the next version will
resolve the problem, and it didn't like an ignored problem for which I
seemed singled out.
Here is my finding:
Using Skype: everything worked fine, but! when I upload though the box
is ticked of to appear in the menu bar, like a warning light of what
goes on in the background, on this latest 14.04 no chance of getting it
to function.
Using Audacity: awry at time the application load with the loge, then
other time without. But, the conflict ocvcurs after sustend is
reenacted. and amazing enough the error of files saved ocuure when
either of the othe ris restarted. (i'll get to the meaning.)
Using LibreOffice: I am getting also such strange effect. No more recent
than today, I worked through the early mornings of the night, after the
new release of the security update, the backup of every five minute
setting, didn't record whihc I atributed to using sections in the
system.
I also found with security update, the system seemed to have begun the
instalation in the backgorund, and more often than not freezes up my
computer without more damage than reboot and check in Synaptic Manager
that there are lingering files. However, these last update, as I always
verify and clean up from Grub the system and files before engaging in
any serious work from getting problems.
I have been monitoriing this all along the years using Ubuntu, and
little by little as no update ever got going other than a new
instalation, whihc is the case once again when I tried to upgrade to
14.10 and got into the habit of thinking new instalation rather than
upgrading ... I ma aware that it had a lot to do with the screen, but
its not only there.
I am aware that it must be frustrating to have a layman's explain a
problem to a professional, but it appears however simple I keep my
laptop the hardware dual Screen and the Dual processors is not of my
doing. Windows is dormant but it often got me out of the problem, but
it's not Ubuntu.
It is only recent that I found out that Dell hase the Dual energy saver
and HD screens, and that it appears like a electric plug that the wires
are getting confused and improper swap whihc confuses the applications.
may I know if the harware i scousing these infinite ongoing problems, so
as to guide me thorugh my pressing work,
thanks for your time,
