And i thought the goal of this MR was to make the device work ... 

...for which you obviously did not use the recommended method, but instead replaced the whole existing way of defining mountpoints with an intrusive file that enforces rebuilding of the initrd.
 
rebuilding the initrd is something we want to avoid to prevent fragmentation and to keep the boot mechanism debuggable and measurable/comparable across different devices. the initrd we offer should not be re-packaged ever in actual final products.

to make the device in question work with the existing method of defining mount points, code is needed to handle the "devicemount=" option that you introduce, please change the MP to add the needed bits to the exiting method and adjust your tree to add the right variables to the kernel commandline.
