Right now, the Lubuntu Next images takes about 5 minutes to load on computers with no access to an ethernet port, or with one that is not connected (laptops, for example).

Right now, because it doesn't take too much space, it's just easier to use network-manager-gnome until we have a viable Qt replacement.
