Thanks, one small code comment, shouldn't the cache be created in ~/.cache rather than ~/.config?

The first bug has some details on the timings and why they were pinged, it does feel a bit random/hackish though. Do you have any idea why those commands are timeouting to start with? Could we try to detect the scenario upfront of doing any work?
