Public bug reported:
Binary package hint: samba
I had a perfectly working smbfs installation under Jaunty that doesn't
work anymore in Karmic. I did a regular update the day of the release.
smbfs package version is 2:3.4.0-3ubuntu5
$ sudo mount -t smbfs //10.0.2.2/samba /opt/samba -o user=****,password=****
mount error: cifs filesystem not supported by the system
mount error(19): No such device
Refer to the mount.cifs(8) manual page (e.g. man mount.cifs)
smbclient on the same share works without flaws.
$ sudo modprobe smbfs
FATAL: Module smbfs not found.
** Affects: samba (Ubuntu)
Importance: Undecided
Status: New
