Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: samba

Karmic on x86_64

CIFS failing to mount at boot but once loaded works fine.

dmesg shows the following errors
[ 49.248470] CIFS: UNC Path does not begin with // or \\
[ 49.248473] CIFS VFS: cifs_mount failed w/return code = -22

fstab contains:
\\192.168.2.1\Music /home/tandrews/Music cifs username=tandrews,password=xxxxxx 0 0

I read others were encountering it when they had network-manager so I removed it and set the network settings manually.
/etc/network/interfaces set:
auto eth0
iface eth0 inet dhcp

resolv.conf contains:
nameserver 192.168.2.1

Even with this I am still getting this error.
Any thoughts would be greatly appreciated.

** Affects: samba (Ubuntu)
     Importance: Undecided
         Status: New
