Binary package hint: phpmyadmin
I used Ubuntu Software Center to install phpmyadmin expecting it to
install mysql. When installing mysql I expected the setup to ask for a
password for the root mysql user, it didn't. As a result, it seems that
phpmyadmin wasn't able to create the database that it wanted to create
during installation. I tried to uninstall phpmyadmin, that also failed
when an attempt to remove the (non-existent) phpmyadmin database failed.
I opened a term and entered:
sudo apt-get install mysql-server
The installation asked for a root password for mysql.
I then entered:
sudo apt-get remove phpmyadmin
to try to clean up, and finally entered:
sudo apt-get install phpmyadmin
Which installed phpmyadmin and set it up with apache2.
