Hello Brian,
Thanks for your quick respons.
I was abroad so had no time unitl now to try and resolve below issue.
I did the "sudo apt-get clean" in terminal mode but I still get a message
that there are 'gebroken pakketten' (=broken packages). The message in dutch
is (bold)
*De afhankelijkheden van de volgende pakketten konden niet geïnstalleerd
worden:
linux-image-generic: Depends: linux-image-2.6.38-11-generic maar het is niet
geïnstalleerd
* translated it says: the following packages could not be installed.
It advices to do 'APT-GET INSTALL -f " in terminal mode . I did it and got
below
message (bold). This was also the (error) message I got when the problems
started with the packages update a little bit more than a week ago:
*anton at ubuntu:~$ apt-get install -f*
*E: Kon het vergrendelingsbestand '/var/lib/dpkg/lock' niet openen - open
(13: Toegang geweigerd)*
*E: Kan de beheersmap (/var/lib/dpkg/) niet vergrendelen. Heeft u
beheerdersrechten?*
*anton at ubuntu:~$ *
It seems it cannot lock the mentioned map or file and asks if I have the
rights (permisions) to do so.
I get the impression it is not a SAMBA related issue but has something to do
with the kernel of linux. I installed xubuntu as asecond OS (still have
Windows-XP running on the HP-pavilion too).
I hope you can help me. if not I will remove Xubuntu totally and install it
again.
met vriendelijke groet,
Anton van den Hoeven
