I apologize for the delayed response.
The share server does not do any routing that I know of, however it may
do something of the nature as a side-effect of samba being shared to
both of its network interfaces, one on each of the two separate
networks.
However, somewhere along the way with the 12.04 daily build upgrades the
issue stopped. I spent the last several weeks trying to recreate the
issue, and have not been able to. My main server is now also running
12.04 in addition, and has had no issue with conflicting dhcp.
So, whatever it was was fixed apparently, and I've been a happy camper.
