Public bug reported:
The net-tools package (provides ifconfig etc) is deprecated on GNU/Linux for decades already in favor of iproute2.
Openvpn is capable to work with iproute2 if compiled with ./configure --enable-iproute2
Thus openvpn package should be compiled with --enable-iproute2 and depend on iproute2 instead of net-tools.
** Affects: openvpn (Ubuntu)
Importance: Undecided
Status: New
