Dirk,
I am not using ceph, I'm using shared NFS storage at /var/lib/nova/instances only.

All the snapshots we do are of QCOW2 images. OpenStack by default converts all images to QCOW2 when you run an instance from them.
We had QCOW snapshots working perfectly in Grizzly, it only stopped working in Havana.

As a result of above, we can not create any snapshot so I don't know if
we would have any problems to boot from them. We can boot properly from
snapshots created before upgrade.
