Public bug reported:
I'm filing a feature freeze exception for Robie Basak who is currently not available.
Robie has done work under blueprint https://blueprints.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+spec/servercloud-u-databases to get mysql-5.6 into main and replace 5.5 as the default mysql-server.
Robie has mysql-5.6 packages available at https://code.launchpad.net/~racb/+archive/ubuntu/experimental/+packages . They're good, but he had this comment:
| mysql-5.6: ready for upload, just not done because I wanted to
| coordinate with an archive admin for removal of mysql-5.5 and subsequent
| NBS binary packages at the same time. This smooths the upgrade path for
| users following Utopic because apt seems to prefer to remove
| mysql-server otherwise, and not push 5.5 to 5.6 (but users could do that
| manually later).
The note about apt preferring to remove mysql-server was concerning to
infinity, so he suggested a slightly later-than-FeatureFreeze upload
rather than an uploading of Robie's work as it is.
So, this is a FFe for the work of getting 5.6 into main and dropping
5.5.
** Affects: mysql-5.6 (Ubuntu)
