So the RightWay(tm) to fix this is to download
http://git.qemu.org/?p=qemu.git;a=blob_plain;f=docs/ich9-ehci-
uhci.cfg;hb=HEAD

and run

qemu-system-x86_64 -net none -readconfig ich9-ehci-uhci.cfg -device usb-
host,vendorid=0x0b95,productid=0x772b -device usb-tablet <extra options
here>
