Public bug reported:

MAAS 1.6

With the GUI I modify the OS and Release for a single node. I set them
to "Ubuntu" and "Ubuntu 14.10". I then start the node and it starts up
just fine. I then stop the node, edit the node and those fields are set
back to "Default OS" and "Latest Ubuntu Release". If I've manually set
those fields, they should persist across start/stop.

** Affects: maas (Ubuntu)
     Importance: Undecided
         Status: New
