Public bug reported:

This error occurs since Bug #1389534. The upgraded sa-compile packages
after sa-compile 3.4.0-3 remain with the same problem.

I'm reporting a new bug, because the current package version of sa-
compile and the "status 2" (currently informed in the automated report
summary) don't match any existing bug.
