shevek at raven:~$ sudo dpkg --configure -a
Setting up mysql-server-5.6 (5.6.23-1~exp1~ubuntu5) ...
Setting up mysql-server (5.6.23-1~exp1~ubuntu5) ...

succeeded. MySQL is now running.

This upgrade also triggered

related.
