This is invalid.

The cache file is kept, yes, but it's no longer displayed because the motd script has this check:
#!/bin/sh

UA=${UA:-"/usr/bin/ubuntu-advantage"}
UA_STATUS_CACHE=${UA_STATUS_CACHE:-"/var/cache/ubuntu-advantage-tools/ubuntu-advantage-status.cache"}

[ -x "$UA" ] || exit 0


So it will just exit without showing the stale cache file.
