Agreed, and I can still reproduce this in bionic with postfix 3.3.0-1:
ubuntu at bionic-postfix:~$ postconf virtual_alias_map
Segmentation fault (core dumped)
ubuntu at bionic-postfix:~$ dpkg-query -W postfix
postfix 3.3.0-1
ubuntu at bionic-postfix:~$ ll /etc/postfix/valiases.cf 
-rw-r----- 1 root root 169 May  7 14:08 /etc/postfix/valiases.cf
ubuntu at bionic-postfix:~$
