ntp vs. ntp-server vs. ntp-simple vs. ntpdate?

For more info about what they do you can read the descriptions. A simple
apt-cache show $package will give you that.

If you don't actually need a server you should be okey with ntpdate + a
cron entry to run it as often as you like.
