Dual Xeon box -- ready for prime time?

I've just purchased a dual Xeon box with a fancy raid controller. It's 
this one:

with a 3Ware 9550SX-4LP RAID 4xSATAII PCI-X RAID Controller

I installed SuSE and it works fine, but I really like the idea (and 
relative simplicity) of Ubuntu. Will Ubuntu handle this box correctly?

I'm using it for heavy-duty benchmarking of an app that has lots of 
threads and needs large disk throughput.
