See Citadel as a free/open-source Groupware suite server project with  
good package support for Ubuntu from their repositories.  Also  
excellent support for many many browsers, e-mail & calendar apps.   
Excels for making a mixed environment of MS Outlook & Mozilla  
Thunderbird w/ Sunbird flavours.  May even work with iPhone soon ;-)
